Michael Kors has been globe-trotting and hob-nobbing with the who's who of who since the early '80s. From his start as a child actor to his stint as a judge on Project Runway, he has undoubtedly seen it all, but his sporty sense of style has carried him through every step of the way. A fashionable look back below.? 1959 -?Karl Anderson Jr. is born. (His mother, a model, would remarry and change her surname, allowing her son to choose a new first name as well.) 1964 - Lands his first television debut, a Lucky Charms commercial.? 1965 - At age 5, Michael designs his mother's second wedding dress. He asks his mother if he could design the entire wedding¡ªwithout any hesitation, she agrees.? 1970 - Michael renames his parents' basement the Iron Butterfly and uses it as his studio.? 1977 - Michael enrolls at Fashion Institute of Technology and gets an after-school job at Lothar's, a boutique across from Bergdorf Goodman. 1978 - Michael drops out of school after nine months. The owner of Lothar's gives him a small space within the boutique to sell his designs. His design aesthetic is simple and understated. 1981 - Bergdorf executive Dawn Mello spots Michael's designs in the window of Lothar's and does a cartwheel. She asks Michael to develop a full collection. Bloomingdales, Bergdorf, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue all buy into the line.? 1984 - Women's Wear Daily raves that his collection is elegant but minimal during his first actual fashion show.? 1989 - It's time to add shoes into the fashion mix. Most of his design sell out and the world falls in love.? 1990 - Michael hires Derek Lam straight out of Parsons School of Design, validating his impeccable eye to spot talent.? 1992 - He starts dabbling in menswear and stages a dramatic runway show at Grand Central Station.
